Is there any advantage to having water outlets on the rear water jackets on an intake. What would they be used for?

Some applications require equal/additional cooling. By adding these exits at the rear of the heads, you even out the head/block temperature from front to back, and allow the block to circulate better. Are they needed in a marine application? I don't think so, unless you're really packing the fuel in,(blown/turbo'd) and want to equalize all the factors of combustion..........My .02 ...MP

The engines in my boat have the rear water outlets plumbed overboard to reduce the chance of steam pockets which can occur.

I hook them together with a -6 hose to help with the steam pockets. Donno if it really helps of not. Just have done it that way from day 1.
