As you can see by the link to the above tread all the boat racers are all going some place other then Parker. No more kilo runs, and no more K-boats in Parker, The Parker Eight Hour Enduro is now forty-five minutes what a joke! I can see it now pretty soon no more boat races at all in Parker. That will be a very sad day. If it werenÂ’t for the history of high performance boats here, Parker would be a ghost town. Maybe you have noticed that the only two places where you could buy high performance boat parts in Parker, Halftrack and Diccuci have both in last year closed and their buildings are now empty. Most of my friends will not even bring their boats here anymore. ThatÂ’s sad the place where boat racing started on the Colorado river, people are afraid to run their boats because of getting a ticket because of noise. ItÂ’s easy for these people to take their money to some place else where theyÂ’re welcome and that is what they are doing. Every time someone with a loud boat goes some place else it takes food off the tables of the kids here in Parker. The smartest thing Parker could do is pass a noise ordnance and let loud boats run during a set time of day. Lots of cities have noise ordnances. I donÂ’t know maybe a city cannot go louder then state laws? I would bet only 1% of people here in Parker would fight it. I know that law enforcement has to in force the law thatÂ’s their job. And I no the LAW IS THE LAW! I respect that. I have to tell you every time the noise laws get tougher and their force to do their job. I feel like IÂ’m losing some of my freedom. That same freedom people are dieing for right now! Below is a picture of my dad and me at blue water in the sixties. I was so lucky to be around ***boats growing-up. And was hoping to have a son some day that I could enjoy the same things with. I guess that freedom is going away. That makes me very sad!! And if I do it now, IÂ’m a criminal WOW! That just sucks!

Great post...Parker has been part of me my whole life, and even more of my familys. My dad won his first race @ Bluewater when Dick put together the family drags, he became a regular at the strip when he was still in high school, he's now in his 60's. I totally understand where you're comming from. To me Parker is just home, and we really miss the big #'s of boats that would show for the kilo's every year!!! I remember as a little guy standing on the dock for hours as the endro ran.......that was fun shit!!

As stated the noise laws are running the true "hot boats" off the river in the Parker area. And as stated, the economy in the area will take a small hit. However, with the Bluewater Casino, and the high $ houses along the "strip" now, the people that complain the most will be happy to see the Loud and fast crowd depart. The people with the ultra boats, the ones that run 30-50K+ will still be around to run their boats, and spend their $ in town. These people, alot of whom own river front houses, don't care about the reduced number of Hot boats on their river, could care less about the noise restrictions being applied in the parker area, and even though they could get behind the hot boaters of the area, they won't. But, wait until the shoe shifts to the other foot, when their barges are banned because of river bank erosion, when the wake boarders that come with them can't pursue their sport for the same reason, then they will say wait a minute, you can't stop us from doing what we've been doing on the river for years!! Hey, wake up! First its hot boats, then whats next. United, the people that use the river, be it pleasure boating, wake boarding, jet skiers,(which are next for being thrown off the river) or flat out screamers that look and sound the way the strip has always been, united, we can make a difference...Divided we'll fall..MP

Would that be "Ultra" boats meaning the brand Ultra you're referring to or ultra boats in general
Those people don't care about the reduced number of Hot boats on their river, could care less about noise restrictions being applied in the Parker area.

The City of Parker has no jurisdiction anywhere on the River. As a matter of fact, the Parker City Limits do not even reach the River shoreline
The County could pass a noise ordinance, but it cannot be less restrictive than State Law. The only thing they could do would be to enact a LOWER noise limit. That would not happen.
As far as Half Track and DiCucci are concerned, they did not close due to restrictions or changing attitudes on the River. Half Track closed due to bad business practices and the numerous lawsuits agianst them. Don Cucci sold Red Rock due to ailing health, and receiving an offer for the property that he couldn't refuse.
The SCSC races held at Blue Water are not attracting the racers they did in the past because of conflicting race schedules and a lack of sponsorship and contingency money.
The boating industry as a whole is changing demographics. It's becoming more affluent in some cases and lower costs for entry level boaters in others. What this is doing is putting bigger boats and more crowding on the River. There is absolutely no possible way, logistically or legally, to restrict boat size or numbers on the River. So this problem will continue un-abated.
The Ski-Boat industry has it figured out, and gets permits to run "demonstration events" almost every other weekend at Blue Water. Why can't the performance boat crowd do the same thing? It may take some planning, cooperation and organizing to get this done, but it is possible, and the Town, County, Parker Chamber of Commerce, and LE would embrace this concept and support it 100%.
Everyone can sit around and b1tch, whine and complain or they can go and do something about it.

Like I sad in my post less than one percent of the people along the parker strip have a problem with the noise. My friend is a dispatcher and they tell me there is only a couple 1 or 2 people that call about the noise. And that messes it up for the rest of us!! And most of those big houses along the river have a little Hot Rod Flattie in the garage next to the big boat. Flat Crazy Racing is right! Just Look around!! we have all ready lost the best part of the river near Blue Water, for Skiing Wake Boarding, or testing our hot boats. Because of a little fish that has lived there just fine for forty years with boats running around it. So the tree huggers came in and shot us down. Wake Up Boaters ItÂ’s just a madder of time before it is the rest of the river.
