Thread: Turbo ?

I was reading an article in Hot Rod about pro mod cars. They talked about how if turbo's would be allowed in that class, the turbo cars would dominate the class. They also said that turbo's are dominate over superchargers and nitrous. They said that the only class turbo's were tried in and were a flop was top fuel years back.
So my question is why would a turbo car be dominate over a supercharged or nitrous car in a class such as pro mod?

Off the top of my head, if you're running a class limited to a max displacement and have identical engines, one with a blower, one with twin turbos, theoretically turbos would be faster and make more horsepower boost psi for boost psi as they don't lose the horsepower that it takes to run the blower. When you start running big displacement with a highly over-driven blower, you're losing a lot of ponies just turning the blower over.
