well i'm going for reliability - no more than 6300 ( due to cam only ) engine is a 468 four bolt with a steel crank cross drilled and chafferd ( sp ) howard hd steel rods-dport heads crower rockers h-d comp hd pushrods - rockers girddled down graded to a custom ground iskyhyd - 598 lift 114 lobes ( i forget the exsact duration - but i think it was around 286 ??? dont quote me - 14 quart oil with tray and baffled and a lil tinney wanna be blower ( 177 ) and a mallory mag four - locked out - when the motor had the roller in it it saw 8500- thus the new h/d push rods -- my daughter wanted to ski and knee board and i currently do not have a nice garage ( new house ) so i wanted to go slow ... lmao --

Have 468 BBC in Sanger Pickle ski hydro. 10 to 1, 2 750's, 990 heads, full comp cam solid roller setup. Ron Gross racing did the machineing an said should be safe to go 7000 RPM. I'e seen about 6300 so far and have not pushed it any further yet. At that rpm I was really cooking on flat water and hydro was picking up speed as I let off. Need to get a lifeline jacket before going any faster.

Redline would be about 100rpm less than what it takes to send connecting rods out the side of the block or grenading the weakest part.

I avoid spinning it over 7,000 rpm but it's happened twice so far without apparently floating the valves. The power starts falling off after 6,500 rpm anyway.
