I figured this is the right forum to ask. This engine will be going back in my roadster, but I need to decide what color (if any) to paint the butterflys on the injector. The body is being repainted the original candy apple red with blue and gold graphics, but when this engine was installed originally, the body was yellow. This is a restoration of a build from 1969, so I want to keep it as period as possible.
    What color butterflys?

I'd put some rotors in it myself.

    That wouldn't be original

Aside from the cleaner look, I would not want any paint on the butterflies that might chip off and go through the engine, just my way of looking at it.

I hadn't thought about the gold, but that's an interesting idea. You can't tell it from the photo, but those blower pulleys are magnesium, and the gold is trying to reproduce the Dow7 treatment they originally had. 3 colors, and 10 coats of paint and they're close.
Powder coat is too thick to get the butterflies thru the shaft, so that's out. I've been thinking about shooting them candy apple red when we spray the body, and hope they don't get scratched on reassembly (or look like some Cal Custom wanna be scoop!)

GOLD certainly would look great against those pulleys IMO. Might want to stay away from paint on there though and find another way to color it if you really want color there....have to agree about chipping possibilities that could lead to the demise of that pretty motor.....
Good luck, whatever you choose it'll look killer. Post picks when it's in there.
