Thread: drive plate / belhousing alignment

Does anyone know the procedure for "dialing in" the belhousing to a driveplate/flywheel/crankhub? I can use a dial indicator to get the drive plate to run in concentric with the flywheel, but how do I set the belhousing so that the trans is in concentric. If offset dowels are used, it seems all of the belhousing holes would need to be elongated (not good). also, assuming you get the belhousing in line with the crankshaft, how do you measure/correct for misalignment of the transmission flange? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thx,
    John

You gotta be kidding me - not one reply! Nobody has used a dial indicator to set the bellhousing on a drag car??? Maybe this will help:
    Application:
    twin blown 615ci Chev
    dual cooler Mercury bellhousing
Bam Marine 1500hp dry sump BW 72c transmissions
    dry sump #6 speedmaster
I want the bellhousing aligned so the transmission does not have to live with run-out
