    I'll take two.

You could do a PFAFF 850 SC EFI putting out closer to 900 along with an IMCO 4x4, box, steering for about $70k.
$85k and NO drive just doesn't make sense to me

Mercruiser packages come complete with an air hose to keep prices inflated. I must agree they are getting out of line.

The Ilmor 625 is 625hp and only wieghs 850lbs. How much HP is the almost 1000lb savings net? It has to be almost a push. Besides the refreekingdickulous price and if you ask me it looks lame.

If I could shed 2000 lbs off my boat I bet I would see 100.

The 1075 HP version was $92K O.T.D installed with a drive and your choice of prop. As pictured below.
This is what I was told by (in the presence of the Merc Factory rep)

The Merc rep said the 1075 version has had some troubles, but is now dialed in.
    90 day warranty.

HH- It does appear to be a detuned 1075. Still lots of money, but a relative bargain compared to a 1075 at 150ish? Maybe the 150 figure includes the drive. Looks like the 1075 has slightly smaller s/c pulleys in this picture. Also WOT listed at 6k rpm for the 1075.

    If so...that's a bargain, considering a #6 alone is $30K. Powerboat reported the retail of a 1075 w/#6 at around $150K, so that's a biiiig discrepancy.

So I wonder what else they changed? Maybe some mapping and cam?
Rumors are circulating that Merc will introduce a new drive for the 850 as well. It's supposed to be shiftable, so no tranny is needed (more like a beefed-up Bravo).
That blue paint is very expensive...
