Things on my project (boat) are going pretty good and the final area I'm trying to improve in the engine. It's an exposed 460 with OTT headers. So you know why I want it to look decent. The previous owner went crazy with black paint so I want to re-chrome some stuff and polish some others.
    1. I want to polish the manifold. I don't want to do it myself because it's a bitch. Do you have a good contact in the So Cal area? Also, what do I use to clear coat it. I don't want to have to do it again.
    2. I need some parts chromed. Brackets and other misc parts.
    3. Stainless or chrome hardware. The local Pep Boys doesn't cut it.
Please don't recommend a place that you don't really know much about or wouldn't trust with your own stuff.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

For the chrome, Santa Ana Plating did me good on the HH Tugboat...
For the polishing, California Polishing (Huntington Beach) did a "show polish" on my manifold, seawater pump, and alternator housing.

I use ARP,(the rod bolt guys), they sell
stainless bolts up to 6 inches long.
ARP is in Oxnard (800)826-3045. I haven't done any polishing or chroming.

HH, if you don't mind, how much did they charge to do the polishing on those pieces?

You know, Brian, I can't remember. I think they want around $120 for the manifold, and like $40 for the alternator and seawater pump.
    I must be getting old...

That actually sounds like a pretty good price. I called a place by my house and they wanted $150 to do a manifold. I didn't go with them because they sounded like a couple of Gomers doing their first one.

As far as fasteners go, Mcfaddendale hardware is good for stainless, ok for chrome. A couple of shops in the OC too. Also try www.southcoaststainless.com (http://www.southcoaststainless.com) , in Havasu.

Good old McFaddendales is great. I work real close to the one on LaPalma. You name it and they have it. Just bring your money. They aren't cheep. But where else can you get all of the odd ball hardware in stock.
A good source for ARP hardware is Clay Smith Cams. They have a tasty bin of most every size you can think of. I'm a slut for the 12 point stuff myself. In the southbay Industrial liquidators has some good surplus stock of nice 12 point s.s. hardware too. When I lived close to there I could be found rooting around there at least twice a week.

Thanks for the hardware tip 1quickjet!
After an exhausting search, I managed to find a couple links to polishing and chrome shops in Cali. Here are the links if anyone else is interested. http://www.gy.com/biz/332813/714.htm
