396 posted: "I bet insurance paid off the boat and he judt didnt want to come and get it..."
    Wishful thinking?
2graphic4u posted: "No, there was absolutely no insurance for us to collect on."
Now I'm not a spiritual person and don't understand the religious comments in 4u's post. But I do think it's unlikely a race jet insured. AND I do know if any mthfkr steals my jet they sure as h*ll better believe in the after life 'cause I'll sure as h*ll try to send them there!
Some of us have intense personal effort, time and financial investment in our jets. Our life's sole passion. Not that the thief cares. But maybe the potential buyer of stolen property...a deal too good to be true? At a certain level, high performance custom jet boats can't be insured let alone replaced. And even if insured, not nearly at true replacement value. Not to mention your life time sweat and devotion value.
Maybe I should tattoo my jet with, "Stolen from Lvjetboy" with a contact phone number...just so there's no confusion at the auction block. Amazing how towing companies seem to have unlimited power to otain "legal ownership papers" and quickly transfer to a buyer.

I'm not to sure about the tone and insinuations of Purpleboat's and 2graphic's posts, but 396 did exactly what I would have done. Once he figured out that the boat was probably stolen, he contacted the police, not the owner.
Props to 396 for the way he has handled this...

Well here is the update. A few officers came by this evening and ran the numbers. It is STILL listed as stolen. So I gave them the boat. Now I have to go get my boat back tomorrow untill this gets worked out. I am going to get more details tomorrow about the whole situation. I will post everything tomorrow. I just hope this all gets worked out If it goes back to the origional owner then thats great. I just saw a deal and jumped on it. The sad thing was..............."IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" I guess I will stick with what I have and have fun with it.

One part of this isn't clear to me. LE came by your place, but who initiated the call to them? I assume it was you that called to have the HIN checked.

All I can tell from the side line of my ez chair is that 396 bought that boat in good faith. The deal did not seem to good to be true to me. I think a lot of people who picked up a striped theft recovery would trade it for a complete boat (even if the hull was of less value). It still does not matter to me if 396 called the PoPo or not. I'm sure if he didn't he would have. (if he was hiding anything he sure as fock wouldn't post pics of it here)
Everyone can say what they would do but please.... Step back and the day you are in his shoes tell me what you did, not what you would plan to do. I bet he was still trying to figure out his move. I mean, he did give up his boat and who knows if he will get that back. The guy could have sold it that same day.
Glad to see the bible thumbers get their boat back but lets lighten up on 396 a bit.
BTW, that's the reason I won't stay in Hotels if my boats with me. The last time I did I worried about my boat so much I still slept in the truck. lol

Your right! I didnt call the police! Why? I wasnt in the wrong. If I had something to hide then I would never have posted pics nor would I have left it in PLAIN view in front of my house.Or I would have never emaild aintscared. Honestly I know some of you guy believe me and some of you dont. THat doesnt bother me one bit. I know what I did was right and I dont feel bad about it. Yes I do feel for the guy that had his boat stolen. My question is why did that boat sit in a impound yard with police numbers on it and nobody came to claim it after 2 years. Thats the funny thing about the whole situation There is more to the story than we know. I guess that makes me wonder    I am not going to try to persuade people that I am honest. I know I am! Point blank, I no longer have posession of the hull so as of right now I dont care how the situation goes. I'm just glad that I am not affialiated anymore.

I never said, or even implied, you did anything wrong. I was just addressing what was said in 2graphic4u's post. I have no doubt what you did was legal, but the huge disconnect is that after it was made known it was the stolen boat, LE shows up at your place.
As an aside, it seems strange that many DMVs require an inspection of many offroad vehicles before registration/title transfer to combat theft, but don't require it for boats. Maybe this would have been taken care of long ago if they did........

And I was pointing a finger at you bud. The and jealous ones know who they are. The funny thing is that the day I got the hull. I took it to my buddies house to show him and his neighbor was getting thrown out of his house by police escort. I spoke to the officer for a few minutes about the guy. I should of had him run the numbers for me. Thats probablly my bad. The thing is that he didnt ask a single question about the boat and he looked dircetly at the police numbers. There is something going on here

Don't know why you'd point a finger at me, but whatever. If someone can score a deal on a boat, more power to them. Quite a few of us look for deals, so can't fault ya there.
