Yeah, it syas mississippi on the plate
Somebody explained this to me before. I thought the same thing, but apparently if the original paperwork is lost, the DMV in that state will register it with the coast guard as "homemade" in whatever state you're trying to put papers on the boat.
I may not be explaining it exactly right, but you get the jist of it.
It most definitely wasn't made by the Mississippi homemade boat co.
Jake really follows the gullwing thing and seems to be able to identify the different ones. Maybe he can jump in here.

Looks like a gullwing or a cp. But I dont know the differences in the tunnel hulls yet. I know someone on here can identify it for me. It is a light layup but very sturdy and my bbc is going to make it fly

Just to clarify, gullwing is a style of hull and CP(California Performance) is a manufacturer. Your hull is not a tunnel but a gullwing.
If you want to know more about it, you should probably track down the racer it was stolen from.
What Squirtcha? said about the HIN is correct. If there is no number on the hull, the state issues a "homebuilt" title. Since that was a lightweight race layup, it may not have been given an HIN by the manufacturer( they weren't required for race hulls). Again, best source of info on the hull and history would be the previous owner who raced it.
Have you taken a good look at the transom or inside the hull for any signs of a HIN?

I thought that was that stolen gullwing if it is ,its a Mantra Preformer 18 gullwing.
How the hell did you end up with that and its not in the guys hands it
    belonged to?
The Jetaway is worth what your friend paid for it.this hull is the same thing as a 18 CP,18 Earl Smith ect.It is amazing how people end up with stuff .

I edited my post because when I reread it ,it says his friend paid 1000 for it from the police.
I know the guy had another one made but still.
