what did you use to cut the tips? did you cut them with the tips on the boat or did you take them off? i was thinking of cutting my tips down to 3" so the mufflers would be flushed with the transom.
Here are [I hope] some pic of the installation of Gibson bullets on my A/O. Powered by a bored & stroked, procharged/5lbs boost 489, with a mild cam. I installed rubber bellows between the transom and muffler to hide the clamps. I cut off the exsiting tips to 3 inches. We tested before @ 94db and after @ 88db, The boat is much quieter inside and that makes my wife happy and you how important this is. Did not test top end because I only have 5 hrs on the engine at this time. I will keep u posted. I am very please with the product, and service by Bob @ Dana marine. I'll try to post the pic later sorry.

I used a 18 volt sawsall with them still on the boat. I wish the pic had posted it would show the bellows also. I am still trying to post the pics.
thanks
Here is the picture I was trying to post. Wild lavey that's a great looking Lavey, What power do u have. I had two Lavey's before the A/O. http://mailcenter.comcast.net/wmc/v/...e=P1010009.gif

Can't wait to see the pics as well. I'll be installing my Gibson's this weekend.
88 dB's at what distance and scale? A or C? The noise level at particular distance is what is important. 88 dB(A) at 39", 4 feet above the water is the new CA standard for idle testing.
NOTE: Meeting this standard does not guarantee having launch priviledges at the Lake Havasu Marina.
I'll try again with the picture, The test was performed per the new cali regulations that were supplied with the mufflers.https://email.hdcco.com/exchange/ava...%20picshttp:// https://email.hdcco.com/exchange/ava...ttach=1http://
Here is another picture. I had the sound meter aimed directly at the transom during the test, But even our voices would change the readings. The bellows I used are from the mc-master carr catalog. https://email.hdcco.com/exchange/ava...ttach=1http:// I guess the pics are to big again, pm me with your e mails and I will send the pics to you that way.
