Not as much progress as I had hoped for this week but the top is free standing now. Some fill in and detail work to do and then get the rear end set up.
Just a quick update. Took some pics from a ways back to allow background object to give it some scale. It sets real tall on the suspension gutted.

And for the do it yourself roof choppers. Here is part of the road map. You can see why it is a good idea to have another roof for pieces. I am learning this myself as it happens.

This is actually the most difficult part of the roof chop. Spreading these back posts.

Heheh, I was gonna post the same thing. The guy built a long arm coil over suspension with a single pivot near the driver's seat. The engine and tranny mount in the frame and couple directly to the rear end. Sorta like the GM pickup suspension used late 60's-early 70's and adapted to stock cars.
I guess the transmission crossmember keeps everything rigid. Seems like the rear suspension wouldn't work very well.
I dunno. Look at the pictures.

I need to check that out. I was gonna couple the trany directly to the rearend and have the entire engine/tranny/rearend pivot at the front motor plate. Did'nt want to shake the gas out of the carbs on a rough road LOL But that got me into a hard debate with myself about..... What would actually be moving? The drive train or the van around it? Hmm.....
Anyway. i got a commitment from the fab shop to have the van primered, rolling on the finished suspension, steering column, seats and engine tranny sitting in the van for the Darryl Starbird show Feb 17th in Tulsa. Will enter it as work in progress just for a little exposure for both of us. i will put the boat in the show also.
Here are a few pics. Rear end assembly to the scrap yard, mocking up the drive train with dummy engine tranny and rearend. And the shorty glide that will be going in it.

What I have that I did not get pictures of is...
2 " drop spindles, Weld pro stars, drag radials and Nitto fronts. A collection of Mark williams yokes etc for what will be a 4" long drive shaft. LOL And new front rotors with 4 3/4 bolt pattern relocated studs. I will get pics of them this week.
