places to buy gas

I hope this isn't a repost, but I got this in my inbox yesterday. If it's true, I guess I've just become a loyal Unocal/phillips customer.
Especially after Jeff got half a tank full of water from the corner Chevron station on his second fill of a brand new truck.
Anyway, here's the info:

Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.
It might even be good for us!
The Saudis are boycotting American goods.
We should return the favor.
An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.
Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into
the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't
import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up
the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my
family, and my friends.
I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies
are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle
Eastern oil :
Shell.............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco..................... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil....................... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway.................. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco.............................. 62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18
BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo....................... 0 barrels
Sunoco...................... 0 barrels
Conoco...................... 0 barrels
Sinclair.................... 0 barrels
BP/Phillips................. 0 barrels
Hess........................ 0 barrels
ARC0........................ 0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and
each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they
are importing.

Have you seen this on the dept. of energy's website? I can't find it and have heard this is a hoax.

It probably is a hoax. I didn't check it. I still hate chevron. That was not a hoax. That was a tow bill to Norco and cost to drain it and dispose of the hazmat. Then it continued to act up for another 2 weeks. Now we find out we are not the only ones who have had problems with that station and water in the tanks over the last year.

I did a quick search and found a reliable link from the DOE.

Shell, Citgo, Sinclair and Flying J are some names that I recognized that do not import Persian Gulf oil. Philips imported 11%.

Remember that Venezuela is part of OPEC isn't it? If Citgo is truly owned by Venezuela then they are just as bad.

It may be different by area but where does Costco buy their fuel from? I also in this case just go by bottom line cost to me for a tank of gas.
The middle east is selling it at an inflated cost but it is also a supply/demand equation. The oil companies share a large portion of the blame for the current prices. Their greed is incredible. The oil may cost $50 a barrel but I would be curious as to what the cost of that barrels is to us once it gets pumped into our tanks.
I can imagine that $50 barrel is over $100 by the time it gets to us. 100% markup I would be willing to bet.

Me too, and with the traffic what it is sometimes, we can get where were going faster on our feet anyway.

It was a few years ago but gas used to be dirt cheap in TJ with diesel even cheaper but you needed fuel filters. Anybody know what gas is running down there now?
