Plates need to be SAWED not sheared.
Grain going "widthwise", in other words, fore and aft when they are mounted to the boat.
Stainless or aluminum, your deal. 1/4-3/16
Rails made out of 1/4 inch angle.
I'm sure someone with more experience than I will chime in.
What are the dimensions of your current rigging?

currently it has a 9 degree strut, 7 1/8th high, engine is set 32 inches from transom, cave plat exstends 9 inches past transom, 23 inches plate to strut, and thats everything I know, still kinda new to the game but I really intersested in getting to know it. thanks Ryan

1/4 inch? I say 3/8 angle unless your building a lightweight racer. :boxingguy

    Hay Flat,
what kind of boat do you have.
any way 3/8 X 3"-2 1/2on the rails backed up on the other side of stringer 1/4" X3" flat bar Alum, I would use 5/16 or more ? but what kind of HP do you have. backing it up gives more support than just useing stringer washers. been there.
cav, plate. Alum, you can use the down easier. but stain, is way easier to clean, dont fade, dont eat away from Prop blast.(on the center plate)
You can shear them (Alum) but cut on the same side dont flip them.
if you are racing TAF BGF then dont shear them.
I have some one that can make them out of stain, laser cut. but you need a good pattern.
PM me if you want, I can give you my #
