Merlin 345 heads, big valves, MSD 6al with a 6k chip and MSD distributor. 50/50 mix of 110 and 91 octane.
Champion Racing Plugs V63Y, (stock number 265).
Short reach, tapered seat, (GM iron head), I run Autolite AR134's. Good place to start. Champions are OK if you don't read your plugs.

open the gap on up around 45 but no more than that

I had always heard that you could get more horsepower when opening the gap to .045 but when my buddy and I opened the gap from.035 to .045 on the dyno with his 496 we lost horsepower. We tried the different gaps with a jacobs ignition system and the MSD. In both instances we lost 10 to 15 horsepower?? Best horsepower was with .035 gap on that motor.
If anybody has any different experiences I would like to hear about them.
Maybe with stock engines that only rpm to about 4500 but I don't have much experience with them on the dyno.
I start out using autolight ar133. then go up or down according to plug color.
