969 lbs and 377HP, just probably not 377 at the prop, just like the 500's that are 470HP at the prop

377 is the displacement. My 6.2 [377] is rated 320HP at the prop. The scorpion is rated around 360 hp.It's around 340 at the prop. Here you go=

Like others have said, it is 377 cubic inches and 360 hp at the prop for an inboard application (i.e. tournament ski boat) and 350 hp at the prop for I/O such as a Bravo I.
I would equate it to a small block version of the HP500/525 EFI as far as internals and build quality.

I don't know alot about the 377, but from my experience with the original 350 scorpion I had in a tournament boat I am a firm believer they are good engines. I had over 600 hours last year when I sold the boat and it ran as good as day one. Mobile 1 oil and water seperator filter every 50 hours, and a new inline fuel filter is all the engine ever needed.

The 377 is a good engine. The reason merc dropped the 377 scorpion ,because it wasn't cost effective. The 377 I have in my boat has steel crank and billet roller camshaft.
The only thing one would want to change is the hypereutectic piston if supercharged. The 377 scorpion had forged pistons ,so s/c wasn't an issue. Time will tell how good these regular 377's are. I have only 30 hours on both engines ,so it's too early to tell.

Also, the approx 1000lb weight is the total package(motor, drive, gimbal). They are a pretty light motor when compared to a BBC. In some smaller boats, they work VERY well.
