Rough Idle

I Think I Might Know What It Is But Wanted To See What Other People Thought. While Im Sitting At Idle The Motor Will Run Smooth Than A Little Rough. It Will Go Back And Forth From Rough To Smooth. Than If I Barely Put A Little Throttle On It Idles Smooth. It A Stock 460 I Think It Might Be Just Some Adjusting On The Carb But What Does Everybody Else Think

Tune up, fuel filter, water in fuel, vacuum leak. Many possibilties.

Adjust idle mixture screws and/or throttle stop screw. Check plugs. Tear up the lake.

[Basket Case]

If the distributor is an old one, you may have worn distributor bearings which will allow the shaft to bounce around at idle and cause the rough idle which will smooth out as soon as you accelerate. If the destributor is in good shape (including the advance springs) then look elsewhere.

spray some some carb leaner around your manifold and base of the carb.. check for leaks

Probably the only fix will be to unbolt the 460. Pull it out and replace with a new 502
