Thread: steering cables

    just out of courisity how tight should the steering cables be as they run down the stringer to the pullies? new to this type steering .......thanks

    Taut, not over tight. I would guess that an unsupported cable, on a 3-6ft run should have about 1/4 to 3/8ths inch of side deflection. Depth of pulley grooves could be a factor, but most contain the cable quite well. An over tightened cable will increase wear and tear on the pulley bearings. Just my .02, others may have different ideas..........MP

    thanks money that seems to be what i have as far as slack in the cables as they run to the rear thanks

    Just grab a cable at the quadrant and pull up with moderate force, if the quadrant moves it's too loose!..
