You should have a tag on the top of the front bearing that will tell you what it is by looking at (I think) the last letters on the tag. If that does not work try doing a search on www.cpperformance.com (http://www.cpperformance.com) I think they have some scetches of them on there web site. either way you should probably run an energizer to bring it up to a more efficient mixed flow pump.

Here's a pic of a WJ, there are 4 bolts on the end of the pump holding on the nozzle housing. Note the arrows showing the 2 bolts that are visible. There are 2 bolts on the other side not visible in the pic.
The YJ has 6 or so bolts on top of the bowl.

The YJ is axial flow. An energizer kit will convert it into a mixed flow pump.
The WJ is mixed flow. Jack @ MPD can make them run pretty strong.

I just ummm... "borrowed"... the pic from your site... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif and added the arrows.
The only pic I could find of my WJ was this one. It's had the nozzle whacked off the bowl and the PD is sitting on the ground so the pic doesn't help as much to show what a WJ looks like.

I just installed a Place Diverter on my WJ. Everyone I talk to before I did it, said you have to cut the nozzle off the end of the bowl to make it perform better. So, when I took my steering housing off expecting to see a nozzle, there wasn't one. It was actually pressed into the steering housing itself. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing???

Yup.. That's the way mine was also.
Jack (MPD) told me that there was a shop (don't remember the name) that did a WJ nozzle conversion that way.
The nozzle on the WJ bowl was too big so on most WJ's you will see a nozzle insert in the center. Also, if you put a wedge on the WJ it would angle the nozzle housing up but not the nozzle so the water stream would hit the bottom of the nozzle housing instead of going straight out.
This shop would cut the nozzle off of the bowl, machine the nozzle housing to install a new smaller nozzle into it and then put a wedge between the bowl and the housing. They would also remove the insert since it was no longer necessary. In the pic of my pump you can see the chrome wedge still on the bowl.

    Bouhone,
found this pic of my old nozzle housing with the nozzle in it. I'll bet it looks similar to yours.

    Eric,
Thanks for the explanation. I talked to a couple different guys and no one had any idea what I was talking about. Apparently, I didn't talk to the right guy (Jack in this case). But that diverter made a night and day difference....

Jacks your man. Here's what the impeller looks like after he reworks it.

I bored out the bowl myself. Per Jacks advice. I'm using a place diverter also.
