Boatmaster.....if I take the boat into a boat shop can they diagnose
the problem and really know if it is the ECU or not. I would hate to
get a new one or try to get it fixed if thats not the prob.
    THanks

This is a very hard problem to find at the shop unless they are on the water. I have run boats on the dyno that have this same problem and not had them act up. I would check the harness plug also like Hot Shot said. Rapairs # 1-800-467-3371 ext 225 Shawn Hill.

Check the ground pin at the amp connector, thats the round twist connector from your wiring harness to your ECU. This pin can corrode and not supply a ground to the fuel pump. I happened to me on one of my Drag motors.
    My 2 cents...

Well...I went to local lake and did some tests....It appeared that the ECU
was shutting down the fuel pump so I ran a jumper wire from the fuel pump
ground to another ground. This worked great....the fuel pump never shut
down!! I guess I need to see about repairing the ECU or maybe getting
a used one....I hope I dont need to buy a new one.
Boatmaster have you had good luck with repairing ECU's??
    Thanks

in my opinion merc wires the fuel pump ground to ecu for "coast guard approval".you dont need new ecu,i have ran my pump ground wire to block for years with no issues.just my $.02

    You Te
    shutting down the fuel pump
That's why you run a fuel pressure gauge, you can also damage a motor with low fuel pressure.

Well I ran a loner ecu this weekend and the boat ran perfect! So I guess
that is the problem. Now I need to see about repairing the one I have
or getting a used or new one.
Thanks for all the info guys
