Thread: Not enough speed

I have a 18.5 Nordic with Berkeley Jet. My best GPS speed is 78. I have done about everything I can think of. I figured my set up should run in the 90s. How can I get there. I am considering a cam change to a roller cam and need suggestions. Well heres my current list of wallet damaging parts.
    460 ford block
    4.140 scat stroker crank
    JE flat top pistons
Ford Racing scj-a aluminum heads 2.25 intake 1.88 exhaust ported by Scott Johnson at Reincarnation
Offenhauser dual tunnel Ram. Holley 600 double pumpers
MSD ignition w/ start retard. No advance in distributor
    Comp Cams 306s
    Roller rocker arms 1.73 ratio
Berkeley jet has the following: place diverter, droop snoot, wedge, finger grate
I had the wear ring replaced and was told I had an A modified impeller (whatever that means) It is aluminum.
I have checked the bottom for a hook with a four foot flat edge.
Is it possible to get anymore out of this boat. I have been running 110race gas. I think my compression is 12.5:1
    Please help

You may have to change to a B-cut impeller

Desktop dyno puts me at 711 horse. I have no idea what the boat weighs.

my old spectra 19 would hit 90 with a b impellor and tons of pump mods and 735 hp . it was running a bbf 501 cid with about 10.2:1 compression. also it had 2 750 dp's on top of it i would imagine that the boat is capable of doing that speed but ask your self how much is it worth 78 is a pretty good speed you might also try talking to some one that might a know a little about those hulls and what it might take to push it up to that speed. good luck

I did consider buying a couple 750 proform bodies for my carbs. I've been told I have enough carb. Haven't been able to locate anyone that knows anything about Nordic boats

Your impeller size and your RPM equate to way more than 78 mph. Something is wrong. Tell us a little bit about your set up, how it carries and so on.

Here is an old JPC check it out and play with it and you will learn more about your set-up.
