Cave I would use a 3.0 tip gell is thick I use a SATA LM 2000 with a alum cup.
Quart of mixed gell consist of
    80 percent Gel
    20 Styrine
    20 cc hardner
2 cap full of wax sol from the wax can (this is how I was tought I never measured it)(leave in the sun to heat up)
Like I said some guys use diffrent stuff like some use PVA I think it is some reduce it with Asatone(my gel suplier said this is a no no because it breaks down the gel.

396, 300 seams fare to me.Just brush it in it is the same as spraying it just do not reduce it as much.Do not use a plastic brush, use wood style. If it is rough when you get done just sand it down and polish it like paint.
I do not know if you can get the webbing efect but I am not much for that any way.I guess you could sling it around.

The first time I did mine, I used epoxy paint. I took it out and got a little fuel on it, and it started coming up. Didn't even last more than a couple outings before it started to peel.
The second time I used gel. I'd never do it any other way (if I had to do it again). I brushed/rolled it on and it's nice to work with. The gel's thick and stays where you put it. Nice for the vertical work (stringers etc.) It would look better if sprayed but I didn't have a rig. Mine's had oil and fuel on it and is holding up great (going on third season).
It cost me whopping $50 in materials. There's a place here in the west valley that will have everything you need to do the job. It's called Sticky Stuff and he supplies most the gelcoat to manufacturers of fiberglass products here in Arizona. I don't have his card handy, but it's in the phone book. You might be able to find it closer to you though.

Mine's under a doghouse but I thought this worked well.
Lotsa work but inexpensive. And it looks kinda cool.

i used to gel the bilge areas,... but anymore i will use an automotive style of paint, or flo-cote sometimes i will use an epoxy if the customer requests.
you can make house paint look good!!...just as long as the prep work is right!

I know that you are the guru on this so break it down for me. What do I need to do to prep? What kind of materials? What brands? What kind of automotive paints(please explain). What is flo-coat?
