Thread: Problems for Berryessa...

I'm kinda surprised that this thread hasn't generated more interest. The majority of people on this forum prob. doesn't give a shit about Berryessa or have never been there but as stated above Berryessa is just the first lake that will be off limits to powerboats. I've seen a few of the proposals and one of them is to "encourage" the use of sailboats, canoes and kyacks because they are enviromentally friendly and they don't pollute the water and air, not to speak of the so-called noise problem. With the pass of one silly ordnance or whatever they will call it Berryessa will then be off limits to those NASTY powerboats. When the bark-eaters are sucessful they will then focus their attention to another lake or river that they think needs saving. GET INVOLVED!!!....The lake you save may be the one you use.
Hey Bob, well said! I've sent in my complaints and signed the petition. Don't the f'n lettuce heads have enough places where powerboats can't go already? I wonder how many of them will be hiking, sailing or canoeing up there when it's 100 degrees? So if they get their way no one would be using the lake when it's hot.

After seeing some of the proposals that includes hiking trails around the lake, primitive campgrounds after all the resorts are leveled [Except Steel Park] and turned back into dirt and grass and closing most of the boat ramps the future for Berryessa does not look good. There is or was even a proposal to build a Las Vegas style casino/hotel on the western shore and dumping the responsability of building roads to accomodate said casino on Napa County who cannot afford the added expense. Anyone who had driven the roads to Berryessa knows well enough they cannot handle any more traffic than whats on there now, another 2-3 thousand cars, RVs and trucks per day would turn an already bad situation into a nightmare. From what I heard this all started when some low-level bureaucrat in Washington decided that Berryessa was "underutilitized" for the population nearby [Bay Area] and set up a few different plans to be analyzed, it took off from there when the Sierra Club and other conservation groups got to add their $.02. These groups will not rest until all powerboats are banned from all the lakes and rivers.

Those Granola Eating Mother F*ckers should mind there own bussiness before they really piss someone off. How are the frickin Tree Huggers going to feel when they are out "canoeing" on my lake and I am knocking trees down with my gas guzzling 4WD truck on their precious hiking trails?

I think it'll be time to take out the old 2 stroke chain saw, and show them how much I love nature. I can always use wood for my wood burning fire place, and if they want to make it a gov't run place, it's my taxes paying for it. I should be able to use it as well. These damn tree huggin granola eaters need to stick to the fights they all ready have, not impose on popular places for out american over indulgence. If the gov't was so worried about pollution, why don't they get their ass in gear and create a better public trasportation system like in Europe?

If I've heard right, this could effect Havasu as well, as I think the BOR runs it as well. Support us now, and we'll support you later.

I just signed the petition. Berryessa is a great lake. I spent Memorial Day weekend on the lake with many friends. What else can we do to keep it open?

I thought about doing that, but I figured it would get burried pretty quick over there, but I will do it now. Thank you for the idea.
As far as what else you can do, I've been writing 1 e mail a week to the different agency's listed above, and from some of the e mails I've received. it may be having an impact w/ all the e mails they are getting...
