The webster "Bench Racer"

Hoss, that racer cliche part I was thinking about earlier. Your broader definition seems to imply a whole new group of say "Bench Mechanics" or "Bench Tech Experts" as well as others. In addition to magazines, I suppose these forums could also be a source of information for your definition of bench (racing) experts. The decider based more on expertise or experience level rather than actual racing connections. Which makes your comments unique.
So far, the only common theme seems to be: Exageration or outright BS in portraying one's abilities or the performance of one's rig.

Bench Racer: one whom sits (could stand, kneel,etc.) and reads ***boat, Hot Rod, Car Craft, Tractor Pull, Monster Mag, etc. cover to cover and can respond to every possible answer to tech, trivia, diagnosis and repair questions without actually having ANY practical mechanical background and/or actual mechanical expierience in the craft of racer/mechanic.
Gotta love those bench racers! They never learn!

1.Anyone who disagrees with Hoss; 2.One who has a view contrary to Hoss'
Simple uses. A. James was a master mechanic and 5 time Winston Cup winning Crew Chief, but he was a Bench Racing Fag because he disagreed with Hoss and his 'coon dog.
Bench Racing- adjective.
1.Characterized by disagreeing with a Hoss post.

I wonder if`n coon dog would be one word or two? Will ask my potnas and see what`s what. I believe it would be one since coonass is one.
Opinions are great and I listen to them. The argument we had was a simple question made difficult. And yes, sometimes I am a bench racer. I am guilty of being what I despise at times. I don`t feel like getting dirty at every shop I visit. I too like to drink others beer, although it seldomly goes like that.
