When the boat is in the water, a boot or seal of some kind is leaking ONLY when the outdrive is in up position. We are wondering what its going to take to replace these boots or seals, is it a huge undertaking? or something simple?
Also, what else needs to be done for maintenece on the outdrive? Oil changes? oil types? and how much? etc. etc.
    Thanks

Where is the water leaking into? How old is the boat/bellows?

There may be a tear in the bellows (they get brittle over time). If the water is getting into the boat (past the gimbal bearing), that is not good. It probably means the gimbal bearing and u-joint have gone south.
You need to take the drive off to change the bellows. Call Ray at RDS (626) 831-1324 and he could tell you how much the parts/labor is.
Always store the boat with the drive all the way down- it's not as hard on the bellows.
