Anybody that tells you to buy an Optima either sells them or owns stock. Odyssey, no comparison. It's like saying a Mercedes and a Hyundai are the same because they are both cars.
I had 3 Optimas on my last boat. No problems. I hear the raves about Odysseys, but do they last longer? Better for stereo?

Most people kill Optimas by not charging them properly. If the heat up, they'll boil (and vent) water which can't be replaced...then they are just another paperweight.

I had 5 Optimas in my last boat, I probably replaced each of them twice. I had 4 in the Shockwave and I replaced each one once, before switching to Odysseys. So far, so good. I have 3 Odyssey 1700s and 2 Optima red tops now. I'm pushing 4400W (rated), probably closer to 6000W at volume.
Hey what's up battery guru....John :boxed:
What kind of play time are you getting with the 3 odysseys?

I shouldn't have to be an engineer to put a battery charger on my rig.
No...but most people who buy them should at least have a triple digit IQ...
...so they can read the instructions. :notam:

You'd be surprised to find out what my IQ is. I'll give you a hint, I'm a 1560 SATer. BTW, my Optimas didn't actually come with instructions, I bought them at American Battery and the guy said "here you go, put the red here and the black here."
That SAT score is for short-bussers...your family must be proud. "Run Forrest, RUN!"
As for the instructions...there's this new thing called "the internet"...maybe you've heard of it?
