All they are doing is looking for the C.A.R.B. (californistan air research board) stamp of approval. If you look at @ MSD box, they have a CARB approval # on them, they just want to be sure everything does.

But how is that not legal? Polished aluminum is legal you know. You can stamp anyword you want to in it. Like EAT DUMP. Just because its Trick Flow does not make it non-emissions.

Everything is supposed to have the CARB ok on it, otherwise it is illegal, doesn't matter if it makes the car run cleaner or not, no sticker, not legal...

CrazyHippy said it right. They look at the heads and ask "Do you have a carb sticker? the answer: "no" ok that is one thing you are wrote up for. They will literally take an hour writing you up for all this stuff, then they will send you to the state referee and he will check to make sure all the stuff has been replaced to factory or carb spec.
They sometimes sit outside of the race track and stop cars randomly, shit one time they block the exit from a car show at the Anaheim convention center, they checked every single car leaving, from the tires to the engine.

That would be the "CARB cops" they can only write you if it is illegal (no CARB stamp of approval) so you get a CARB approved intake and port the holy hell out of it instead of buying a non approved pre ported intake...
