Thread: 460 Valve lash?

Got the boat running but not sure I did the valves correct. I oiled the lifter, did not pump up, and installed them. I tightened until I could not spin the pushrods with my finger, then I went 1/2 turn tighter. Turned the motor several times and repeated the process. I think I am right, how bout you?

77 Spectra, thats how I do mine, 0 lash then a half turn in. I have tried a 1/4 and its to loose and 3/4 its to tight.

Did you just take up the slack, then half turn or did you try to spin the rods, then the half turn?

Just take up the slack by moving the pushrod up and down until you are at 0 lash, thats when there is no play between the rocker and pushrod. Another 1/2 turn and you are done. Hope that helps.
