Thread: Loader Grate and droop

A friend of ours bought a boat and it has this loader grate and droop on it. He was wondering about this loader grate, you can see in the pic it is all one piece. Who made it, what type of HP do you need to run, etc. The droop is alittle longer then others we have seen it is made by Berkley, whats your opinions?

I just got one of those loaders but have yet to try it. I was told to cut about 2½" out from the leading edge of the center. One of the reasons for doing that is it will help prevent the boat from gliding to far on shut down. The other reason is it will have a better hole shot than it would if left in.

The longer droop is going to lower the thrust line and lift the back of your boat some ... How much ... ????? And, watch out for possible 'Bow Steering' when you first try it.
If it doesn't work for you on your boat I'd be interested in it , if your friend wants to sell it. The next task we face with dialing our boat further in is lifting her tail a bit and a longer droop may help.
