Thread: Mercruiser mystifies me

A friend of mine recently bought a boat with a mercruiser. It's a little four banger. Since I have only owned jets I know nothing about these things.
    Here's my question..........................
At low speeds the wheel pulls slightly to the left. At full throttle you have to fight the wheel terribly. Trim and speed make this thing scary to hang onto. I had to use both hands on the wheel under full power to horse it back to the right. Not good.
I've been told that all IO's will pull to the left. Is this true??????????
Is there some sort of adjustment to remedy this problem. What's goin on. I think this thing is dangerous and my friend is a total rookie at boating. I don't want him to get in some sort of trouble with it.
    Thanks for any help.
    Peace Man!

There is a trim tab located right above the prop. Above it is a round plastic cap. Pry it off and loosen the bolt and clock the tab to the right . Tighten the bolt and try that.
