++ Myth #2--Illegals come to the U.S. for jobs to support their
families back in their homeland.
This is partly true. However record numbers of those illegally
crossing the borders are women and children! What' s more, there
are also record numbers of dead-beat dads who simply abandon
their families.
Unfortunately, this is almost all true.
It is estimated that $12 Billion per year is sent back to Mexico from the U.S. to familys there from workers here. Again, most of that money is not taxed at all or only partially (because of the 25 dependants each worker is claiming that they support here with their fake SSN's)
On a side note. I am a Contractor, an industry often accused of contributing to the problem of illegal immigration. All of my employees are legal and are required to provide flawless documentation. Although, it would be easier and cheaper for me to pick up workers from the local Home Depot, and pay cash under the table. It is not much harder to hire legal workers and pay them a decent wage. However, we do it, and we also make money for the company without too much competition from contractors who hire illegals. We just work on service and quality and not price.
Most companies worth anything could do the same.
