band new motor 454 tuned it thursday before cfw for fathers day made one pass at cfw turned the A impeller 5500rpm same rpm the day before i left lifter went flat put new lifter in checked cam for marks and wear in great condition took it out four times since new lifters and only can turn 5000rpm timing is in the same place 12 initial and 18 mechaincal whats up plenty of fuel tons of power and the plugs look great help and we did play with the timing to get any more but any other place she runs lower than 5000rpm the motor is 454 .20 kieth black pistons 10.2-1 rec port heads pocket porting balance 2.19in 1.88ex polished swirled one piece comp cam extreme marine 278 cam mathing lifters and springs and push rods prefromer air gap eldebroke king demon 850 mechanical and everything is brand new 7 psi to carb for fuel pressure and dry stacks twisty bassets temp 160-180 rex temo state kit
I had a similar experience one time--lost 400 rmps. Turned out that the throttle was not opening the carb to open up all the way. Simple adjustment gave me the 400 back. Just took a while to figure it out.
