Ok heres my problem.... I'm thinking of moving out of New York and heading to the west coast. I dont have a clue were to go in either state. Of course i'd love to be withen minutes of a lake to drive my CVX20, but i'm sure that will be hard financialy being that i'm 27 years old with hardly any money saved. So could you guys give me some ideas were i should go in Cali or Arizona. I'd like somewere safe for me and my girlfriend to live, so i dont have to worry about her getting hurt or somthing, and when i come home from work my boat is still there (that includes jet, motor, trailer tires, ect). So give me some ideas and info about anything you can. Thanks, Anthony

It's in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley and best of all you can become a Fresno State Bulldogs fanatic. The cost of living is reasonable, clean lakes nearby, and blistering hot summers.

You forgot the safe part...There's enough thugs in Fresno to make L.A. almost look safe...Actually Fresno ain't bad if you stay north of shaw avenue!
Go Dogs!! The best college football game I ever went to was BYU&FSU at Fresno.Great tailgate parties!

AntRant, lets start off with the basic things..
What do you do for a living? Do you have a job lined up already?
California can be very techy or very Hayseed depending upon what section you live in..
How much "baggage" are you bringing with ya?
Do you like the country or the city?
    Does EXTREME heat bother you?
Give us a little more info and I think we can help ya out.. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
If ya like I'd be more then happy to give you my full unadulterated complete recomendation off the boards once some questions are answered. I just don't want to offend someone that might live in the town that i'd recomend against.

As RD said, what type of weather do you like? If you can deal with the extreme heat, I would say go for AZ or Vegas. The cost of living isn't nearly as high as So. Cal and you have the Colorado River close by.....I mean you don't have to sit in 2 hours of traffic just to get out of LA.
If you do not like the extreme heat, or want more of a change in season, I would try Northern Ca. You get hot summers, nice fall, and rainy winters and spring. Just Stay out of SF unless you want to pay $1,500 for a studio apt. and you will be just fine.
So. Cal.......what can I say....I love it and hate it all at the same time. Does rat race mean anything to you? Beautiful weather, potential for lots of jobs, but you get a shit load of traffic, cost of living is high, and people are mostly ass holes. Don't expect the ...."hi, how you doing today" when you walk down the street.
If it were me, here is where I would look.
San Diego area. Gorgeous weather, beautiful place to live, closer to the River than LA, not as much traffic as LA, but cost of living is high.
Suburbs of the Bay area..... good weather although you have lots of rain in the winter, still can make a few Co. River trips every year, plenty of lakes in your area, and of course potential for lots of work. People are nicer up north too. There is a huge difference between Northern Ca and So. Cal, almost like two different states.
Las Vegas........action, action, action. You won't get bored here, just stay away from the casinos and you will be fine (maybe a trip or two won't hurt). Big enough town to find work depending on what you do, close to the river, cheap cost of living, excellent weather....hot in summer 110+ an cool in the winter.
If you want the best boating in the world (IMHO) and great weather, make the move. You will not be disappointed. Just keep in mind, with every city there are good and bad spots. When you start to narrow things down, post on the boards and everyone will point you in the right direction. Good Luck
