Actually, everything north of Rinaldi is very nice. South of Rinaldi is OK, anything farther south of Kennedy HS is kinda iffy.

The bigger the impeller the more water you move. So that being said you have A3, A2, A, AB, B, BC, C. And then they break them down even further like B+, B, B-. There are also other impellers that are larger than the A3.

The bigger A would take more HP to turn the rpms !!!
the advantage of a larger cut impellor is reduced rpm at any given speed. like to cruise at 60 mph? don't like to spin your motor a gazillion rpm to get there? run a big impellor. need rpm to make decent power? run a tiny little impellor and spin the crap out of it. somewhere in between is probably where you want to be.
Provided the pump is fully charged, at maximum throughput All Impellors (AA, A, AB, B+, B-, BC, C, etc.) Move the Same Amount of Water (within 1 or 2 %). What is different is the rpm at which the maximum throughput occurs. Sooo, the reason for using different size impellers is to match the pump to the motor in terms of the motors Hp and the rpms at which the Hp occurs.
In terms of currently manfactured impellers, that's all there is to it except for the material the impellers are made: Al, Mag-Bronze, Stainless Steel, etc.: Obviously the more Hp a motor puts out, the stronger the material the impeller should be made from/used.
