Starting From South end : Wahweap.
What are good places to see?
WhereÂ’s the good places ( currently ) to camp?

The river is running at Hite, not to mention it's a 130 mile cruise up there when the lake is full.
San Juan arm is nice, you can get away from most everyone up there. Dangling Rope is below the San Juan arm, so there is a marina somewhat close.
The lake has been comming up close to a foot a day, so set the camp up a little ways from the water.
People are cool, and really you won't be around to many as is it is.
Poochie is welcome, it gets hot and really dry up at Powell, lots of water for the dogs and yourself.
Porta potties are required, and the rangers check to see if you're using them (trust me).

Wahweap is at the south end as you described. Dangling rope is about 50 miles north. Bullfrog and Halls Crossing are about 50 miles further up (Mile Marker 100 ) and are directly across from each other on a wide section of the lake. Hite is another 50 miles up (Mile Marker 150) from that.
The south end of the lake is very flat and open. The winds get pretty high. The further north you go, the deeper the canyons get and the prettier it is.
If you're going by houseboat, I wouldn't try to cover more than 50 miles in the week. By ski boat, we went from Wahweap to Hite in a full day. We ran back the next day. Be sure to stop at each marina to top off your tanks. The center channel is well marked so it's pretty easy to keep track of where you are if you have a map.
Rainbow bridge is worth a speed run just to say that you did it. The best bet is to head up one of the canyons off of the main channel and find a beach. I would go at least 20 miles up to get out of the open area and into the canyons.
The lake is safe as long as you pay attention to where you are. The main channel has steady traffic. Wahweap, Halls Crossing and Bullfrog are the "big" marina's. Dangling rope is only accessible by water so all of the supplies have to be brought in by boat. Prices tend to be high and selection pretty limited.

There's a finger just adjacent to Rainbow bridge docks.... It goes back a ways, then opens up to an unbelievable cove with vertical walls. Just awesome. Don't know what it would look like now with the current water levels though. But if you drop by Rainbow bridge...definantely take a peek

Get a map for shure!! Good beaches in the Padre Bay area. Bouy #21ish Kane wash, Padre Canyon ect. Water is still rising so you will lose beach in 7 days for sure.
Dangling rope is 40 miles or so from Wahweap and has gas/ice. Just explore and you will see lots of good stuff
Do bring Fire wood. Dont light the whole wind blown pile of tumble weeds on fire. Had fire crew out a 1:00am and they are not happy then. Destruction of resources ticket eventually thrown out.
People are melow. Most of the time you have to bring your own party. Rare that we end up partying with the nieghbors. No Glock. National park so keep it outta sight anyhow.
Load up on real beer at home. Nothing but low octane Utah beer at the marinas.

Is the Catsle Rock pass open or do we have to go around Antelope isle?

Gotta go around for shure. You can launch at Antelope Point and be half way around the channel.

Buy a map at the Marina, find Anasazi Canyon (above Rainbow Bridge) it is awesome, turns and looks like a dead end, then the next corner opens up, and you think it will dead end, but it opens up again.......goes back for about a mile like that!
Watch out for Wahweap, we went last summer and there was a sand bar around lone rock, very low lake level.
If you camp there you will have to endure the channel to get to the upper part of the lake. How big is your boat? The channel can get nasty in stormy weather.
Lake Powell is beautiful, once in a lifetime rock formations...
