Thread: Gear Reduction Starter ?

Can those things be rebuilt/reconditioned. Mine was inadvertently submerged. It still works (for now) but first time out after some down time you have to tap it, then it is fine for the day. Motor will be out in near future and wanted to know if i should buy a new one.

Sure they can be rebuilt. I had a new shaft and gear put on mine by a local shop that does starters and alternators. He charged me $50.

Sweet, we have a great local rebuild shop. I'll check it out.
