    First off, if your motor isn't making at least 1hp per cube it needs immediate work. That is the low end nowadays. You can easily get alot of power with 9.8 comp. jstwkd, don't even bother running avgas with that low of compression. You're actually losing power. Run 89 octane and it'll have more power. For a cam, don't run a lot of overlap, maybe 110-114 lobe centers, about 230-235 duration @.050 int lift. You'll be happy with that. Easy to tune for lots o power. Good luck.

    Use a claysmith 318-8, thats 640 lift 318 adv. duration, 108 lobe centers,use a 1050 carb, you'll be over 600 hp 92 octane, maybe some additive? Jim Brock
