I'm rebuilding my JE pump and was wondering where do you check the tolerances and what should they be for the impeller. The kit came with shims.
I have two rubber hose pieces left that I don't know where they go.
Ones 3/4"by 1" long and the other one is 3/8" by 1/2 long.

You check clearance between the lip of the impeller and the wear ring. no tighter than .025. The 2 pieces of hose seal the steering tube at transom. Budlight

With a JE pump you wont need either of those hoses. For a JC or JG they would be the steering tube seal and the reverse cable seal, respectively.
