With a much traffic there always is on these damn freeeways in California, probably wouldn't make a whole lot of difference. But it would be a bad idea in area's where traffic is light on the highway.
Some of you younger boaters may not remember, but in the last big gas crisis the FEDS put us on a national 55 mile per hour speed limit. What a disaster that was, but now one of our highly paid representatives wants to bring it back. If you've got anything to protest, this will be the one if it even gets a hearing...

I can't even tow my trailer at that speed!!
Keep us up to speed if there is something to vote on I will be one of the first to put my name on the dotted line.
The speeds I saw coming out of LHC last week-end, well, now one was on an economy run. Got to add $100 each way from LA and back...
The difference in gas milage I see when drive 60 mph vs. 80 mph is about 1 mpg...
With overdrive transmissions and fuel injection, there isn't nearly the fuel savings to be found today if we were to all slow down vs. back in the 70's when everyone was running 3 speeds with 4.11 rear ends and leaking carburators.

Hey!.....I've got 3.73s, and the carb doesn't leak!!..I see 2-3 MPG between 58-62MPH towing, and 70 and above while not towing. 68 F250 with a 428 and a 3 speed auto.......Best ever was 13 MPG towing a boat and keeping it right at 58 MPH........With todays prices it is over $120 each way to BHC......and back.........MP
