I am possibly looking at upgrading some power to my Ultra 247 and was curious what a fuel injection or n/a 600+HP motor goes for nowadays. Namely the 540 with 620 HP.
    thanks in advance

I'm not sure, but I bet it would be over $125.00
    Anyone else?

If I recall correctly, Teague was offering his 620 for around $32k at the show. Could be wrong, but that is what I remember.
If you want a NA 600h.p. motor, I would look into the new GM 572. 620 h.p. and that is actually under rated. From what I hear, they work great as a boat motor too.

Dude, if I put 900 HP in my boat it would be the end of me. 620HP would put me right at 95 mph or so. That is plenty fast in my boat. I have been 79 mph now and it is a kick in the a$$.

You can always start with a shortblock from dyno-flow in vegas, 540, 572, or 598, unassembled for $3,600. Find yourself some BBC heads, other parts and you are not even at half what some of these builders quote.
At 600hp, I've been told the China cranks (CAT and Eagle) are fine.

Here is some info from somebody who recently installed the Chevy crate motors in his boat.

I am doing a pair of RAYLAR 600's in my boat, that are based on the Merc 496. You might want to contact Ray Broady to discuss @ www.raylarengine.com
My engines will be in the first week in August and the pricing was great with all forged internals and stock mercury ecm and guardian safeguards in tact.
Here are a few earlier pics... I can't show any more or give detailed specs as this is a Family & Performance Boating Magazine project/article.
