I would route the cable through the transom for a cleaner look.Try to place it as high as possible to get the largest radius for smooth movement
I'm thinking of getting a Place diverter.
I remember seeing boats with them and they had the diverter cable running over the stern. Is that normal, or can you drill a hole and run it through the transom, eliminating that big loop over the stern?
Btw, I have a Berkley JC.
Thanx in advance for the replies

I run mine thru the transom.
What they said.
I would think that the tighter you run the cable, (over or thru/transom) would make your cable draw the same distance even if you loosen it up.
