I have a friend that I built a 455 olds motor for and we are having a tough time getting exhaust gaskets to last. The motor has brand new aluminum log manifolds and eldelbrock aluminum heads. both the manifolds and the heads are near perfectly flat. Im tempted to put it together with no gaskets.

Aluminum logs are meant to be installed like factory manifolds, "NO GASKETS", make sure both surfaces are true and clean and bolt them on, you will not get any leaks garonteed!.. If you use gaskets of any kind eventually you will warp the logs and they won't seal!..
