What would power a house. If used sparingly would a 5k get it? Run fridges and freezer as well as some lights? AC (central)? I need to overnight now! Storm coming quick and I got a 9 month old. I`d like a deisel. Thanks.

Better to have too much than not enough. A 10kW would be the safer bet of the two, but a 15kW would be even better. If you oversize it a bit it will burn less fuel as well because it won't be working so hard.

Of your choices 10k if you want to run the HVAC and that might not cut it. 7500 would not start mine. 15k -20k would run everything nicely. I'm looking also. Any hookups out there.

I have a 5.5KW that's only going to run my fridge, some lights and fans, plus my little 5000 BTU window unit AC that I have just for power outages.
If I were shopping for one of those big-boy generators, I'd go with the Cummins Onan from costco.com. They have 15KW, 20KW, and even 45KW. What's cool is they have natural gas and LPG configurations.
Edit: (Sorry Hoss, I didn't see that you wanted one overnighted until after I posted this.)
    See http://www.costco.com/Common/Search....arch=generator
    Good luck.
