When MIL arrives, treat her like royalty. Tell her how terrific she looks and then, later in the evening, make no secret of wanting to pound her ass off. You may have to actually do her but it's a small price to pay for getting the wife onside with not seeing her Mom much anymore.

Dude, my mother in law thinks I'm a mute. I just look at her when she's spreading MIL crap and nod my head and act kinda retarded. Works great. She thinks her daughter should commit me to an asylum. I think she should be committed personally. Just one question, Where do they come up with some of this crap?
