Damn, my prediction has come true. When the Duramax came out at 520 ft/lbs I predicted the diesel HP wars would level out at 700 ft/lbs because of the direct injection and intercooler. Looks like we're coming close. I'm pretty sure the 6.0 Powerstroke already has a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) because my Dad's rig makes boost from idle. I'm wondering if this Duramax will be an EGR engine since they are claiming lower emissions. Big trucks have shifted to the VGT since the emmisions mandate made the EGR engine the norm. But maybe they have substituted lower compression for higher boost and gotten a few more HP at the same dynamic compression ratio.
