I lived half my life on the island (the days I worked) and the other half in El Segundo (my days off). It was fun. I switched departments about 7 months ago. I left LA Co. Fire and now work for Orange Co. Fire. The girlfriend and I are talking about a trip next month once I finish my 6 month testing coming up in 4 weeks. I still know so many people there. Have fun and my suggestion is to get out there for the weekend as early as possible. This time of year Avalon Harbors moorings (inside the harbor at least) will be full by Fri. am. You will get stuck in West Harbor or Hamilton Cove.
Have fun and let me know how the crossing was. You are pretty much sure to have a smooth ride in the morning before noon. The wind will pick up in the early afternoon and make it a little bumpy.
