Okay here's the dealio ... Don & I drove out tho asses the situation this morning ... the channel looks much better than it did 5 years ago ... our poles are still there and the waterskiers that use the channel are keeping it free of debris ...
Now ... this is what I am going to say ... I will put in a lot of leg work to try to make this happen, if (and only IF) I get solid commitments from individuals who will help try to make this happen. There will need to be meetings, planning, set up, tear down, transportation of equipment, etc., etc., etc. ...
I will need probably 20 people to help out. I've already spoken to Mike (cyclone) about assisting with the city council ... and I will go and file all of the appropriate paperwork & take this to the board ...
But I will not do this alone. I will need a few of the committed to be able to make the board meetings as well to let them know that this is a serious attempt to have a secondary venue.
So there it is ... I've started this ball rolling ... now who's going to help me in keeping it going?
    Here are the pics:

This would be cool as hell if they would have a few races there. Now it would only be an hour drive instead of four hours.I think you will draw a bunch more spectators also and possibly a few more boats from AZ.Busby if there is anything i can do to help let me know.

I spoke to Mike after the post ... he's already got the contact name for the person at the city who is in charge of Lake activities as well as a lot of good ideas.
If this comes together ... we should be able to have a large enough gate count to pay the racers purses!
Thanks for the offers, I will keep posting as I get more info.

I was there shooting last time you guys ran there. It got pretty rough in the afternoon.
Is puddingstone out of the question for a race site. That place was perfect, great pit area, grassy shady shoreline, 15 minutes away.... :clover: (for me at least)

Pretty much ... they want to estimate what you're going to get at the gate (spectator wise) and charge you up front. The last time we checked into it ... they estimated that it was going to cost us over $15k to pay for the use.
A little too rich for us. They were using numbers from the early 90's when drag boating was at it's height ... kinda unfair.
And yes ... it was rough later in the day ... but remember how many people turned out? We would have to block the opening of the channel to stop the rollers from coming in. The city was supposedto do that last time ... but never did ... waves were coming in off of the lake by the end of the day.
And remember the ducks/birds? 1/2 track ... the flock would land in the middle of the course ... about 20 of 'em ... they'd take off and come right back on 60% of the runs on Saturday. Didn't see any today though.

not sure what sort of help i can be (some of you know my situation) but maybe in transportation of equiptment or something. from where does it need to be transported from? im about 20 minutes from lake elsinore. (south)
with regards to the birds, maybe someone with a remote controlled boat can scare them off.
