460 Ford dist gear roll pins

Mallory distributor. First roll pin (the original) lasted 6 years. Replaced it with a new pin that Mallory sent me, it lasted 4 outings! It appears that the gear to shaft press fit is to loose and putting too much load on the pin. My oil pump checks ok as I ran it with a power drill with no problems. Sent distributor back to Mallory for a new shaft and gear. Any of you encounter the same problem?

I know that Rivertoys Jason had that problem a couple of times with his Mallory. The final solution.... the distributor was replaced with an MSD unit.
