I was at Smellsomemore this morning testing a boat for a buddy of mine. I got there around 8:30. I get in, launch and idle out. As I doo my shake down around the lake, I was watching these two ,you guessed it, PWC drivers whipping around, turning without looking, you know, the norm.
After checking everything over I decided to cruise through the speed lane to let the guys know I was there. I turned and watched the two guys heading toward shore so I decided to make a run. About 1/2 way through the lane, I look to the right and here they come, straight at me. So I back off and wait for these guys to change coarse. Here is the best part.
After doing this 3 times, I finally cruised over to the smarter looking guy and asked what the hell they thought they were doing. The smart guys answer was, "We want to jump the wake ,Bro!.
I let them know it was not the place to do it. Believe me, I was really nice about it, didn't raise my voice or anything. I did my runs and headed back to the marina. Just before I got there, I see these two guys right next to the entrance of the marina. As I pass, I said "Thanks guys, have fun out here!" and I waved. His responce was to tip the PWC on it's nose and soak me, Dave (owner of the boat) and the boat.
Now, I can be a hothead sometimes, but Dave is the coolest guy I have ever met, Until then. He was pissed and said, "put the friggin boat on the trailer so I can get something out of the truck!" We waited until they came in(daves idea) (about 20 minutes) and Cool Hand Dave decided that the smarter of the two..........WOULD BE THE ONE TO GET THE DRUNK TEST!!!!!!!!!! You see, Dave is a Sherriff. Where? LAke Elsinore. Love it. After 3 other units showed up, both got unsafe operation of a water craft, no proof of insurance, not carrying proper I.D. and the best was when he told the two that if they washed his boat he wouldn't charge them with "Defacing a law enforcement officer's personal property. (never heard of that one before).
They wiped the whole boat down before we left.

I'm not the cop, but I understood that proof of insurance was required on all motorized vehicles/ not sure. Have to ask Dave.

We've had that same chit happen in the speed zone... You end up getting all the way out of it and then they buzz you 15 feet off the boat. Where are the Sheriff/Lake Patrol boats when that goes on? We pay our money to launch and would like to get our use out of the lake like everybody else.
I would have LOVED to have seen that ending... Nice work.
