Is it recommended to take off the pressure on valve springs during lay up on high performance engines?

I back mine off. It wouldn't hurt if ya did.

If mine is going to sit for a week, I back them off, be surprised at at how much longer the springs will live. Even if you rotate the motor often, there's always some that are compressed!...

Warm it up and change the oil/filter
    Back off the valve springs.
Fog the cylinders at least with WD-40. Turn the engine over by hand several times and spray them several times.
Drain the fuel system and WD-40 everything. fuel pump, carb bowls etc. Change or clean the fuel filter.
Put everything back together, tighten everything up and it is ready to go next year after you run the valves.
